The Author
Clinton Galloway's interest in community is
not an accident. He was born into a rural, extended family in which five generations lived
within one half mile. The oldest member of his
family is now an alert 102. He left home to
attend Albion Colle~e, Boston University and
the University of Edmburgh, Scotland, in preparation for the ministry. In 1967 he returned
to Michigan to serve churches in Sunfield and
Grand Rapids before becoming the present
director of the Wesley Foundation at Central
Michigan University. When he returned to
Michigan he built a cabin near the place where
his ancestors homesteaded and has used this
facility to facilitate the development of alterna·
tive Christian communities for eight years. The
cabin has also served as a centering place for
Clint, Judy, his wife, and their two children,
Stephen and Elspeth.
