Obituary, Mrs. Clement Ainge
I
RS. MARGARET AINGE was '
born in S taleybridge, Cheshire, England, a nd passed to her eternal reward at
Royal Oak, Michigan, N 0\·ember 12th,
1934. She was born of English parents,
Mr. and Mrs. K. Kers haw, and spent th e
most of her early life in the city of Oldham, E ngla nd. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Clement Ainge, April
13th, 1882, a t Mancheste r Street, 'vVesleyan Chapel, O ldham, and to th is union
three children were born who died in infancy.
For over 52 years they walked the
path of life together in true congenial
love and harmony, and for 30 years of
that period in the Methodi st itineracy of
the Detroit Conference. She was a li felong Ch ri stian , giving her h eart to the
Lord a t the age of ten, a nd continuing
through the years with excellency of
character, and sweetness of spi rit.
She has been a lifelong member of the
Methodist Church, firs t in England and
then in America, where she and her husband came in th e month of March, 1905.
Her ministry has been one of love and
sacrifice throug h a ll the years, in the
parsonage, in the Ladies' Society, in the
Missio nary Societies of the church, and
in fact in every department o f the church
w here w ith her hu sband s he mig ht help
in the work of the L ord.
She was fa ithful to the las t a nd in
dying left a g lorious testimony that sh e
was going to be with Jesus. Such a
woman never dies. Such a death is but
the unloosing of higher power s. It is
not defeat nor collapse, but achievement.
Dying, the maiden whose name is
"Peace" marked her countenance; and
now when a ll is over we hear a great
voice fa lling from the skies, approving
the record of w ife, mother and saint of
the Christian Church and the voice says,
"Serva nt of God we ll done."
In the passing of M rs. Clement Ainge,
Clawson Methodist Church notes the
coronation of one of her most wor thy
and useful s ubjects of the P rince of
Peace.
"Servant of God well done I
Thy glorious warfare's past,
The battle's fought, the race is won
A nd thou art crowned at last."
Interment was made in the Woodlawn
Cemetery, D etroit, Michigan, by her pastor, Rev. J ames Chapman, a nd there she 1
lies in peace among her friends.-J ames
Chapman.
