Mrs. John Austin

RS. JOHN AUSTIN, widow of the
late Rev. John Austin, died in her
sleep at her home in Highland Park,
Michigan, Friday night, September 3.
She had been in poor health for several
months.
Mrs. Austin was born in June, 1878,
in Birmingham, Eng land, and came to
America in August, 1912. She was immediately married to Rev. John Austin
at Evanston where Mr. Austin had graduated from Garrett Biblical Institute
that s ummer. They were stationed at
:"Jess City and Raymond in the South
\Vef;t Kansas Conference. They cam(
to Michigan and joined the Detroit Conference in 1918, serving the following
appointments: Deford, Argyle, Oss ineke
and Hubbard Lake, Munith, Addison,
Warr en, Perry Parish, Vernon and Goodrich. After Mr. Austin's death on Sept./
19, 1939, Mrs. Austin and her daughters
made their home in Highland Park and
united with Trinity Methodist Church
of Highland Park.
Mrs. Austin was especially gifted in
mu sic, was a leader of many choirs,
loved to sing in the choir and was a
very effective Missionary Society leader.
She is survived by three daughters, Miss
Priscilla Austin, Mrs. Alice Bauman and
Mrs. Ethel Sheehan and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held
on Monday, September 5, and conducted
by Dr. J. A. Halmhuber, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, assisted by Rev.
C. W. Kennedy, assistant pastor.
Bur"ial was in Goodrich, Michigan.
