Our new Associate Pastor, Reverend
On June 16 , Bill Omansiek (pro no unced
o-MAN-sick) came to begin his pastorship with
us at Saint James. We welcome him and his
wife , Linda , and their two daughters Kathy, 3
years o ld , and Holly , six months old.
Bill comes from the Detroit area ; he graduated from Warren High School. l-Ie earned his
B.A . from University of Michigan ; major area of
study was Human Psychology. At Duke Un iversity Divinity School , Durham, North Carolina,
he earned his Master of Divinity degree.
Bill had clinical training at Central Prison,
Raleigh , North Carolina; s pent two and a half
years at Me thodist Children's Home in Raleigh
William Omansiek, and his family.
as recreation leader and houseparent; spent one
and a half years at Flint Park, Flint, Michigan,
as Past or of an inner city Church, working with
family counseling, visiting, and community
d ro p-in center. Reverend Omansiek has just
completed three years at Methodist Children 's
Home Society in Detroit, where he was
Chaplain. The program a t Methodist Children's
Home dealt with severe family problems; involving residential trea tment ce nter with special
school, pre-school, day care , unwed mothers
services, outpatient family counseling to
families in crisis. l-Ie comes to Saint James with
a strong background in programs for child ren
and fam ilies, with an emphasis in community
involve ment.

Omansiek, pastor of the Flint Park United
Methodist Church , was advanced to the office of Elder from the
office of Deacon at the 130th Annual Session of the Michigan
Conference at Adrian, Mich . on June 8, 1971.
He was assigned
chaplain of Children's Village in Detroit by Bishop Dwight E.
Loder.
Recommended to preach by First Church of Warren, Rev. Omansiek became a probationary member of the Annual Conference in 1967.
He was granted his B. A. degree from the University of Michigan
in 1966.
He received his Ma s t er of Divinity degree from Duke
Divinity School of Dur ham, N. C. in 1970.
He has served on the
Social Concerns agency of the Michigan Conference.
He is married t o Linda Knapp of Berlin, Conn . and is the father
of a one-year -old daughter , Kathy.
