EV. LINCOLN OSTRANDER, 77,
pastor of the Dimond Methodist
Church, Flint, died at the home of his
s on in Pontiac on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Mr. Ostrander was born in Tuscola
County, June 26, 1866, the son of John ·
W. and Olive Ostrander. He attended
Caro high school and Adrian College,
H e entered the ministry in 1892 a nd had
been a member of the Detroit Conference
since 1916, serving the following
ch arges: Hemlock, H ender son, FlintLakeview and Lincoln Park, Davison ,
Owosso- Corunna Ave., Ortonville, Laporte, Unionville, R eese, Prescott, and
Flint-Dimond. He retired in 1939.
He married Flora C. Hawkins of Utica,
July 29, 1890, who died in 1926. He is
survived by three daughters, Mrs.
Muriel Shaw, with whom he lived the
last five years, Mrs . Myrtle Andrews,
both of Flint, and Miss Mildred Ostt·ander, Detroit; two sons, Clifford and
John, both of Pontiac; two sisters, Mrs.
Permila Hague, Jackson, and Mrs.
Adelia Singer, Detroit; four brothers,
Rev. William Ostrander, L a nsing, Wellington Ostrander, Stockbridge, Rev.
U. G. Os trander, Owosso, and Adelbert,
Detroit; thirteen grandchildren and
three great grandsons.
Lincoln Ostrander was a faithful minis tet· of Jesus Christ, giving himself in
humble service far beyond his physical
s trength. A genuine brother has departed from u s.
Funeral services were held from the
Court Street Methodis t Church in Flint,
on Thursday afternoon, F ebruary 24, at
1:30 o'clock. William Clyde Donald,
William E. H arrison, H arry J. Lord
and George Tripp had part in the services. F 1·nnk Stalker, Harry A. Brewer,
~eorge MacDonald ~ones, Floyd H. Sullivan, John Meredith, and Frank N.
Miner were pallbearers. Interment took
place in the Linden Cemetery.
MISS MILDRED OSTRANDER, 76, of
Union Lake, died May 15 at Pontiac General Hospital. Born August 31, 1893, in
Shelby Township, Macomb County, the
daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Lincoln
Ostrander, she received a B.A. degree
from Albion College and an M.S. degree
from the U. of M. She was a retired instructor in the medical department at
Wayne State University, and the Detroit
Southwestern High School. Miss Ostrander was an active member of the Commerce United Methodist Church , the
wscs, and was an honorary steward.
she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha
Sorority, and the Commerce Chapter No.
OES. Survivors include two brothers,

Andrews of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Muriel Shaw of Flint. Funeral services were
held in the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home,
Pontiac with her pastor, Rev. John W.
