EV. Ulysses Grant Ost1·ander of
Juddville, 88, died June 11, at McLaren General Hospital in Flint. Mr.
Ostrander was born in Ellington November 14, 1869, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Ostrander and lived in the Saginaw-Flint area his entire lifetime. He
married Grace Mae Dilley, June 20,
1895, at Davisburg. . - - - - - - - --,
She preceded him in
death May 5, 1946.

1947 at Juddville.
Converted at the
age of 16, Mr. Ostrander was admitted
to the Methodist
P r o t e s t a n t Confer ence in 1893 and
was appointed to the
Davisburg c h a r g e.
After serving at Goodells, Peck, Fostoria, Ingham , Birch Run, Franklin and
New Lothrop he transferred to the Detroit Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1914 and served at
Saginaw Wanen Ave., Byron, Morrice,
Brighton, Mayville, Lindon, Tuscola,
Akron, Burton and Juddville where he
retired in 1949. His main interest was
evangelism and during his long ministry
conversions to the Christian faith numbered in the hundreds, amon.!!' wl•orn

Rev. U. Grant Ostrander, pastor of the
Owosso Circuit, was suddenly promoted
from the church militant to the church
triumphant.
Mrs. Ostrander was born on February
2, 1879, at Holl y, Michigan, of Charles
and Melvina Dilley. Soon thereafter,
her p:n:ents moved to Davisbur g,' where
she spent her g idhood years and attended the public schools. At the age of
ten she knelt at the altar of t he Davisburg Methodist Episcopal Church and
publicl y dedicated her life to the Christ
of God, Whom she had always loved.
In 1894, Rev. U . Grant Ostrander was
appointed pastor of the Methodist Protes tant Church in Davisburg. His

step-grandchildren; a s i s ter, Mrs.
Amelia Hag ue of Jackson ; a nd a brother,
Adelbez·t, of Detro it.
Funeral se rvices were held in t he
Juddville Methodist Chut·ch with Dr.
Ches ter McPheeters, superintendent of
the Flint District, and th e pastor, Rev.
N. D. Cotz·onc, officiating. Burial was
in Linden with Rev. Joh~ Ambler offering t he prayer of committal. The following ministers acted as pall-bearers;
I saac McPhee, Dwight Lawson, Easton
Hazard, Leo Burch, William Combellack
and Homer VanBuren. A prayer service
for the immediate f amily, held at t he
Linden Funer;tJ Home before the funeral
