FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:
The Rev. Eugene K. Bacon was elected to Deacon's Orders
and received as a Probationary member of the Detroit Annual
Conference of the United Methodist Church on Wednesday
Afternoon, June 2nd, as the 135th annual session of the
Conference began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of
Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Wednesday evening, he was ordained a Deacon in The
United Methodist Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder, Resident
Bishop of the Michigan Area of the United Methodist Church.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bacon of Trenton, Michigan,
Rev. Bacon was graduated from the Trenton, Michigan High School.
He received a B. S. degree from the University of Michigan in
Ann Arbor, Michigan in May 1973, and is continuing his studies
at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary , Evanston Illinois.

Mrs. Bacon is the former Karen Marie Mull , daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James Mull of Trenton, Michigan.
Rev . a nd Mrs.
Bacon are the parents of one child, Jamie Lyn aged 20 months.
Before entering the ministry, Rev. Bacon was an Engineer
with the Chrysler Corporation.
His hobbies are Table Tennis,
Chess, Reading, Dramatics, and the Guitar .

The Rev . Eugene K. Bacon was elected

Elder's Orders, and received
as a Full Member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United
Hethodist Church, on Tuesday evening, June 3rd, as the 139th consecutive annual session of the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium
on the campus o f Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Friday evening, June 6th, he was ordained an Elder in the United
Methodist Church by Bishop Edsel A. Ammons, Resident Bishop of the
Mich igan Area of the United n1ethodist Church.
Son of l-1r. and Mrs . Eugene Bacon o f Trenton, Michi ga n.
The Rev. Bacon
was graduated from Trenton High School in Trenton, Michigan, received
a B.S . degree from University of f>.l ichigan at Ann Ar b or, Michigan, and
a Maste r of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Seminary in
Evanston, Illinois in 1978.
Elder's Orders and Reception into Full Membership in an Annual Conference are the final steps into the Ministry of the United Me thodist
Church.
Mrs. Bacon, i s the former Karen narie r1ull, daughter of Mrs. Doris
Mull of Trenton, Michigan .
