THE REV. EMMANUAL F. and
TAYrORIE BAILEY have had word by
tel ephone of the safety of their two teenaged children in Liberia . Bailey is pastor
of Charity UMC in Flint. The two children
are in a refugee camp near Monrovia, the
capital of Liberia. The pastor and his wife
left the children in their native Liberia
when ttiey came to the U.S. in 1977.
Bailey studied for the UM ministry. The
couple has been back to Liberia to visit
Carmine, 16, and N'orris, 1{ in the meantime. However, the government would not
allow them to take the children out of
Liberia. The Baileys ·had not heard from
their children sinc·e June. At that time
rebel armies and President Samuel K.
Doe's army battled for control of Monrovia.
It was Mrs. Bailey's brother who called
with the news of their safety.
