THE REV. STAN and
ANNE BAILEY were hon-
o~ed by the congregation and
friends of Marquette: First
UMC as Bailey re-retired from
a lifetime of active ministry. In
• his brief period of retirement,
he and Anne moved back to
the Upper Peninsula and
b ecam e constituents of First
UMC. During this time he
began teaching a defensive driving course for senior citizen s.
Also, during this tim e First
UMC became active in setting
up a Stephen Ministry p rogram, a pastoral care program
that was important enough to
draw Bailey back out of active
retirement. Since 1987 he has
served First UMC as part-time
associate pastor. Now the Baileys will follow their "snowbird" schedule, departing for
the warmer Texas air soon.
Then it's back to Marquette to
enjoy the taste of true retirem ent in the northern woods
they've come to love.
