CHILD OF THE PARSONAGE:
David John Bunce, age 21, was accidentally killed in Berea, Ohio, on July 11, 1981.
He was born August 7, 1959, in Ridgecrest, California, the son of John and Barbara
Bunce. Dave was raised in the parsonages and attended school in Muskegon, Detroit,
Corunna, and Birmingham. He graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham in
June of 1977 and enrolled at Baldwin-Wallace College, Berea, Ohio, that Fall.
At the time of his death, he was a senior majoring in biology and a member of
Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.
Memorial services for David were held at Baldwin-Wallace Chapel with the Reverend
Henry Knight, College Chaplain, officiating, and at First United Methodist Church
in Birmingham under the leadership of Dr. James Wright and the Reverend Thomas
Beaven. The funeral service was held in the First United Methodist Church of
Gaylord on July 15. Those leading that service were the Reverend Eric Hammar,
Dr. James Wright and Dr. Royal Synwolt. The tributes given centered on David's
gentleness, friendliness and concern for all living things. He is survived by
his mother and father and a sister, Martha. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery,
Gaylord, Michigan.
