Arthur D. Burch
Art hur ·o. Furch \·ras born in Sharon Township , \vashtenaw Count y ,
ltichigan, February 6, 1e85, to Daniel and Sarah Burch .
He \>Tas married April 7, 1909 to Anna H. Feldkamp of South
:t-lilHaukee, Wis consin . To this union Here born t\io c hildren:
vlynona May and Ethe 1 Hary.
Before e ntering the Christ ian Ministry, Arthur Burch \·ras engaged
in farming .
He Has c onverted in J anuary of 1902 at the ay.e of 17 years , i n
t he Sharon Center Methodist Church , where he bacame a member and \'ras
a c tivo as Class- Leader, Ste1-1ard, and Sunday- s chool Superintendent . La t er
he t ransferred to Rmrs Corner Evangeli cal Church where his wife attended.
The cal l to the Christian Ministry c ame 11h11e he \'laS attending ~- ·
the Sharon Evangelical C burch in 1919, and he \·ras recommneded for the
ministry by the Sharo n Chur ch, under the pastorate of the Rev. o. P.
Schlicher, and was licensed at Portage Prarie in 1920. Ordination
a s Deacon '\vas given in 1922, and ordination to the office of Elder
\vas conferred in 1924. I n his ministry, Rev Burch se~~~,.J;~ following

e , passed away January 2, 1954 while he was
pastor of the \voodland congregation..
On November 28 , 1955', 1:e \·ras
united in marriage t o Frieda Cooke of \'loodland .
·
Due to an eye - ailment, Rev Burch retired from a c tive service in
l:ay of 19 51 after thirty - seven years of activ e service in the Christian
ministry ; the last five years under appointment at the \•l oodland Evangel i cal United Brethren ~urch .
A quotation is taken from a 1-1ri tten record of Mr Burch:
" I n each and every field of service we enjoyed the frie ndl}rlp ,
hospitality , and co- operation of our co - laborers . We had conversions
and accessions on e very field , and for ev ery help we were able to
render , '\ole thank our kind and loving Henvenl y Fat her . "

Preceeding him in death was his daughter, vcynona Arbruster, on
J une 13, 1955; and his first wife, Anna Feldkamp Burch, on Jnnuary
2, 195'1+·
Left to mourn his passing are: his wife , ?rieda; his daughter
Ethel Bur ch \vebber of Galesburg; five grandchildren , ami: four greatgrand- children; and a host of other relatives and friends .
Arthur D. Burch was a sincere Christian , a faithful minister of
the Gospel , and a good father and husband; always concerned about the
spiritual welfare of his family .
