In the case of men now living, the information can, of course, be only up to. date. Photographs of living and

Dea r Bro.Vlatson,
You r lette r and blank has arrived and I have tried to fill in
the required information.
There a re some things I should know, such as
what offices he filled in the loca l church, but I did not know lh-.Butzbach
before our college days, and knew very few of the ea rly rninisters, and so
did not remember what he told me about his early
~xperiences.
I think he
wa s s.s.Supt,and a lso class l eadter, but am not sure about it.
As to
his relig ious training ,he took a little work at Moody
Bible school, and I am under the impression he took a few subjects in the
Seminary during his college days, but that also is not clearly in mind
a nymore. He did much r eading on subjects that int erested him.
Most of Mr .Butzba chs Bibles or notebooks have been disposed of.I
wish I had one of his Chinese Bibles for you,but I find I have none of them
anymore. The one he u sed the most was given t he General hlissionary Collection
in Cleveland, a s a lso t he Chinese banner the official pre sented to him
because of what he did f or t he Chine se at the time of f amine at Shenchow.
I am mailing you t he Bible he used during his college days, and a few
snap shots t aken in China, and hisla st picture t aken shortly before he left us.
I have moved about so much tha t I have not kept many t hings t hat I would have
if I had a home.I live with my sister a nd family,the Dr.Brunemeiers,but am
away a good deal of t he time.
Wa sinte rested in t he a ccount recently of the Cass City 50th anniversary
a t t he cburch. The editor of the Ca ss C&ty Chronicle still sends
me t hat paper
a nd t hat help s mu to keep in touch with t he church and friends there.
I am always glad to give any inf ormation desiied ,and hope what
I have given will be sa tisfa ctory.
Of course our Calif.papers always give us the r eport of all the
•
blizzards and othe r uncomfortable experiences t he Ea st ha s.We do have
delightful weat her here, but t he East has many other good t hingswe do not
One pl a ce should not have a ll the advant ages or it wou l d be too crowded.
Cor dia lly Yours ,
