FOR IMMEDIATE RElEASE, PlEASE:
The Reverend Mary Margaret Eckhardt lvas elected to Elder ' s Orders and recei ved as a Full Member of the Detroit Armual Conference of the United Methodist
Church on Wednesday afternoon, June 6 as the 138th Consecutive Jlnnual Session of
the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of Adrian College , Adrian,
Michigan.
On Friday , June 8, she was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church
by Bishop T.eroy C. Hodapp, Resident Bishop of the Illinois Area, presiding for
Bishop Edsel A. Arrunons.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs . Billy Evans of Columbia, Tennessee , Rev. Eckhardt
was graduated from Columbia Central High School in Columbia, Tennessee .
She received
a B.S . and M. S. degr ee from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville at Knoxville, Tennessee and a Master of Divinity from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio
in 1978.
Elder ' s Orders and Reception into Full Membership in an Armual Conference are
the final steps into t he :Ministry of the Un ited Methodist Church .
Rev. Eckhardt's husband, Robert is the son of Mr. and Mrs . Homer Eckh ardt of
Memphis, Tennessee.
Rev. Eckhardt h as b een assigned to Lake Orian United Methodist Church in
Lake Orion, Michigan as an Associate Minis ter by Bishop Ammons for the coming year.
