-oRichard Ernest Yost, born in London, England,
August 7, 1867.

He was united in marriage to Miss

Edith Errey at Bexhill, Sussex County, England.

He

served as a local preacher in the land of his birth.
Some time after their marriage

r. and Mrs.

Yost came to America and landed in New York City
April 11, 1894, and be gan preaching at Alanson,
Michi gan.

He united with the Michigan Annual Con-

ference of the Methodist . Episcopal Church in 1895,
was ordained Deacon in 1897 and Elder in 1899.
His pastoral ap pointments after he joined the
conference are a s follows:

Yost was the father of two sons and two

daughters: Ernest, who resides in Oshtemo; Arthur,
who is principal of the Hartford public schools;
Mrs. Florence Burns, who resides in Lansing, Michigan;
Edith May, who married Edward Sievers and died
February 21, 1927.
rJl r. Yost was brought up in a Christian home
and with his parents atte_n ded the Wesleyan Methodist
Church in England and was licensed to preach by that
organization.

He was deeply spiritual and very

loyal to his church.

He took his work seriously

and had a constructive program and pressed all the
interests of the Kingdom.

He was devoted to his

home and family and was a good husband and father.
His last words were expressed in the words of
Paul: "For I am now ready to be offered and the time
of my departure is at hand.

I have fought a good

fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the
faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of
righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge,
shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but
unto all them that love His appearing."
The funeral was conducted by the Reverend
Henry

• Ellinger, assisted by Reverends Victor

w.

Thrall and Clarence E. Deal, the latter a conference
classmate.

Burial in Riverside cemetery, Kalamazoo.
