FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:
The Reverend Wayne C. Ferrigan_was elected to Elder's Orders, and
received as a Full Member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church, on Wednesday afternoon, June 8th, as the l36th consecutive annual session of the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium on the
campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Friday evening June lOth he was ordained an Elder in the United
Methodist Church by Bishop Edsel A. Ammons, Resident Bishop of the
Michigan Area of the United Methodist Church.
The son of Mr. and Mrs . Lyle Ferrigan of Flint, Michigan , The Reverend
Ferrigan was graduated from Flint Central High School in Flint, Michigan.
He received a B.A. degree from Adrian College at Adrian, Michigan and a
Master of Divinity and Master of Christian Education degree from Methodist
Theological School in Deleware, Ohio in 1975.
Recomme nded for a License to Preach by Charge Conference of Flint
Park United Methodist Church of Flint, in 1972, Reverend Ferrigan was elected

to Deacon's Orders by the Detroit Annual Conference in June, 1972 and was
received as a Probationary Member in the Detroit Conference in June , 1972.
Elder• s Orders and Reception into Full Membership in an Annual Conference
are the final steps into the Ministry of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ferrigan, is the former Miss Deborah McCourtney, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. E. David McCourtney of Mt. Morris , Michigan.
The Reverend Ferrigan has been assigned to Sharon United Methodist
Church in Manchester, as Minister by Bishop Ammons for the coming year.

Rev. Wayne Ferrigan, Student at Met hodist
Theological Seminary of Delaware, Ohio, was elected to
Deacon's Orders and received as a Probationary member
of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United Me thodist
Church on Wednesday afternoon, June 6th, as the l32nd
consecutive annual session began in Dawson Auditorium
on the campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Wednesday evening, he was ordained in the
United Methodist Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder,
Resident Bishop of the Michigan Area of the United
Methodist Church.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Leyle Ferrigan of Flint,
Michigan, Rev. Ferrigan was graduated from Flint Central
High School in Flint, lfuchigan.
He received a B. A. degree from Adrian College in
Adrian, Michigan in 1971; and is presently enrolled as
a student at Methodist Theological Seminary in Delaware,
Ohio.
Rev. Ferrigan is pursuing the course of study required
for full Membership in the Detroit Annual Conference.

Ferrigan is the former lftiss Deborah McCourtney,

Before appointment to his present position, Re v.
Ferrigan served as the Christ ian Education Director of
Hilltonia United Methodist Church of Columbus, Ohio.
Rev. Ferrigan will return to Methodist Theological
Semi na ry in Ohio for further studies.
