Ira L. Fett -Ju__,-ne, l CJ<z:Gf

AUTOBIOGRAPHY: I was born September 20,
1927, to Walter and Helen Fett in Marissa, Illinois. I attended a one-room school through the
eigh th grade, and later graduated from the
Marissa TWP High School. Following my
graduation from high school, I enlisted in the
navy and served with the Con struction Battal ion
known as the CBs in the South Pacific theater.
After returning from overseas, I answered the ca ll
of God to become a full-time Christian Minister.
It was not an easy decision for me, as I was hoping God could use me in a Christian profess ion
other than the pastoral ministry. It was not to be.
1 began my co llege education at Asbury College
in Wi lmore, KY, in the fall of 1946, and
graduated in 1950. I w ill always be thankful I
went to Asbury, not not only did I receive my Bachelor of Arts degree, but best of
all, I met Marjorie Birdsa ll, the love of my life, and we were married in September
of 1951. I attended Asbury Theological seminary for two years and after Marjorie
graduated from Asbury College in 1952, we moved to Detroit w here I began serving
in th e Detroit Conference as a Local Pastor. Twelve years later, with tw o d aughters
and three sons, Marjorie and I moved to Marcellus, Michigan, to a student appointment where Marjorie taught school and I commuted to Garrett Seminary and completed my work for the M.Div. degree. We have worked as a team all through our
ministry. Marjorie's calli ng to ministry is that as a Wife, Mother, and Public School
Teacher w ith a Master's degree in Counseling from the U. of M. and thirty-seven years
of teaching in ch urches and Public School classrooms. Thus far we have been blessed
with six granddaughters of which the youngest are twin s.
In our thirty years of service, we have served chu rches in McDermott, Ohio, Perry,
Genesee, Marcellus, Sa line, Trenton First, and Ann Arbor Calvary. We are grateful
to the Detroit Annual Conference for its support, the opportunities of service it has
given us, and the host of friends we have come to know and love. We trust that during this time, we have been able to share the light of our Lord in the darkened places,
helping others along this pathway of li fe even as others have hel ped us.
Our view of retirement from the pastoral ministry is only another phase of our ministry,
as we continue to serve Christ and his Church wherever we can be useful.

TESTIMONIAL: Ira L. Fett ... a beloved fellow minister of the Gospel and dear friend.
Our fam ilies have been friends all during our ministry. Many fam il y camping vacations were shared with Ira, Margie and their chi ldren. Our friendship brought us together
fo r many yea rs on the Conference Secretarial Staff. His faithful commitment to this
ministry was outstanding and deeply appreciated.
Throu gh close to fo rty years of friendship, I have come to appreciate Ira for his steadfast involvement in the life and ministry of the Chu rch. Not only is he a man who
tri es to par the course when driving that little w hite ball, but of greater significance
has been his desire to be a good and faithful minister of the Lord Jesus Christ.
May God continue to bl ess Ira and Margie in their years of reti rement.

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resmrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
