REV. D. E. EVANS, 75, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., retired member of the Detroit Conference, died August 22 in Wesley Memoria l Hospital, Chicago, III.,
while v is iting hi s daughter and son -inlaw, Dr. and Mrs . Charles Sayre of River Forest, Ill. A U. S. Army chaplain
in World War I , Mr. Evans ea rned hi s
master's degree in r elig-ious education
from Boston Univers ity in 1924. He was
received into the North-East Ohio Conference on trial in 1924 and became eli- ector of religious education at F irst
Church, Canton, O.hio, ·a nd in Alliam:e.
Me was received into fu ll membershp
of the Detroi t Confet·ence in 1926 and
served Detroit S t. Ma rk 's, Walled Lake
and Es canaba churches before retiring
in 1941. He was a me mber of the Park
Avenue
Temple
United
Methodist
Church in F01·t Lauderda le. In addition
to his dau ghter, surv ivors include his
wife, Grace Kreighhaum Evans ; a son,
Dr. Gilbert Eva ns of T ucson, Ariz.;
eig ht grandchildren; and one s ister, Mrs .
Blodwyn Tressel of Canton, Ohio. F uneral senrices we r e held in the Kreighbaum Funeral Home with Rev. J ohn A .
