Bryn Evans, minister of Hazel Park First United Methodist
Church, a member of the Detroit Conference, and an Elder of the

United Methodist Church, this week was elected to the retired relationship by the Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist
Church meeting at Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
Reverend
Evans was recommended for License to Preach in 1929 and was received as a full member of the Detroit Conference in 1932.
Reverend Evans is a graduate of North Western high school,
attended Adrian College and received B.D. degree from Westminster
Seminary, Maryland in 1932.
He was married to Edna Elliott of Detroit, Michigan.
They
have a son, George, and a daughter, Margaret.
He has served the following churches i n the Detroit Conference:
Brant, Owosso Circuit, Hartland, Warren Avenue Saginaw,
st. John's of Royal Oak, a nd Hazel Park First .

Rev. Evans will be serving as Associate Minister of Birmingham First United Methodist Church.

REV. GEORGE BRYN EVANS.
GEORGE BRYN EVANS, retired minister
of the Detroit Annual Conference, was born
in North Wales, Great Britain on April 29,
1905 and died in Royal Oak, Michigan on
July 30, after an extended illness. He came to
America at the age of 21. Bryn received
higher education at Adrian College and
Westminister Seminary, now known as Wesley Theological Seminary. He married the
former Edna Elliott. Also surviving are two
children, George and Margaret, and five
grandchildren. Bryn was appointed to Brant
50 years ago, and followed service there with
lengthy pastorates at Burton, Hartland,
Warren Avenue in Saginaw, St. John's in
Royal Oak and Hazel Park. After his official
retirement in 1970 he became a member of
the ministerial staff of First church,
Birmingham. Memorial services were held at
the Birmingham church on August I with
Robert Ward, Douglas Vernon and Royal
Synwolt participating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist
Children's Home Society at 26645 W. 6 Mile
Road, Detroit, Michigan 48240; or to the
First UMC, Scholarship Fund; 1589 West

THE REV. GEORGE BRYN EVANS
The Rev. George Bryn Evans, 77, of
Birmingham died July 30 in WUllam
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
Born in north Wales, he has lived in
the Royal Oak-Birmingham area since
1953. He ministered in the United
Methodist Church. He was ordained a
Methodist minister 50 years. ago. He
was a graduate of Adrian College and a
1932 graduate of Westminster Tbeolog. ical Seminary, Maryland. He was a forI mer member of Hazel Park Lions Club
and for the past 10 years was associated with First United Church of Birmingham.
Survivors include: wife, Edna; son,
George of Walled Lake; daughter, Margaret of Frederick, Md., and five
grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 1 at First United
Methodist Church of Birmingham. Ar1rangements were made by William R.
Hamilton Funeral Home. Tributes may
be sent to Methodist Children's Village
or Student Loan Fund c/o First United
