Seldon Brant Ford was born November 11 , 1861,
in Palmyra ,
ew York, son of Jane Van Lone and
Loami Ford of Irish and English descent .
father , Loami Ford , died when Seldon
years of age .

the rural school and an academy in New York state .
In 1885 , he started for the west and stopped off

In 1886 he entered the preparatory department of
Albion College and remained in college until he
received the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1894 .
