THE REV. REGINALD
BECKER, retired m ember of
the D etroit C on feren ce, died
on Mar. 26. He was born D ec.
12, 1915 . He grew up in Pontiac, M ich. , th en attended and
graduated from Albion College
and G arrett Theological Semin ar y. He married F lorence
Alice Southworth, who predeceased him in 1996 . The
churches M r . Becker served
include: Ishpeming: Salisbury,
Norway, Sagin aw: Epwor th,
Detroit: Strathmoor, Birmin gham: Embury, and Holly. In
1969 he becam e a counselor at
the Veteran's H ospital in Battle
Creek, and in 1970 he became
a rehabilitation counselor and
super visor for drug addiction
for Wayne County. Mr. Becker
retired in 1980 . T h e couple
adop ted a d au ghter, Connie,
fro m the Judson C enter Children's Hom e. C onnie m arried
Chuck Straub, and they had
three children and two grandchildren. C onnie preceded her
· father in d eath. Funeral services for Mr. Becker were held
M ar. 29 at Waterford: Central
