IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Please
Rev. Norman R. Beckwith, student minister of the United
Methodist Church at Hammersville, Ohio,was elected and received
into full
membershi~
in the Detroit Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church at the Executive Session which marked
the opening of the l29th consecutive meeting of the Detooit
Conference.
He was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist
Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder on Thursday evening.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beckwith of Durand, Rev. Beckwith was recommended for a License to Preach by the Charge
Conference of Corunna United Methodist Church and was received
into the Detroit Conference as a Prbbationary Member in 1967.
Rev. Beckwith was graduated from the Corunna High School,
Taylor University in Upland, Indiana with a A.B. degree in
1966, and from Asbury Theological Seminary with a Master of
Divinity degree on June 2.
Mrs. Beckwith is the former Sandra Sue Golfman, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Golfman of New Richmond, Ohio.
With the reading of the appointments by Bishop Loder Thursday afternoon, Rev. Beckwith was assigned to serve the coming
year as Associate Minister of the Lapeer United Methodist Chur ch.
