such as a Building Program, an Evangelistic Crusa de, a n exceptiona l
class of new members, some bit of community servi ce, etc.
The evangelistic -meeting that remains in my memory as the best
was held some years ago at the Flynn Church,Brown City. This was
I believe in 1946. Rev.Jamea(Bing) Crosby was our preacher.
God blessed the servines and about twenty professed conversion.
'I'he closing .Sunday we received about 1'15 or 16 into the church.
This sparked something that continued on through some lean
times aad amany of these are still faithful.

THE REV. HAROLD
BLAKELY, 83, retired member of the Detroit Conf., died
Nov. 19 in Pigeon after a
lengthy illness. He was born
Mar. 2, 1915, in Williamston,
Mich., the son of Norman and
Lera (Foght) Blakely. He married Lucille Nicholson on Feb.
2, 1941, in Wauseon, Ohio. He
served as a United Brethren
and then UM pastor in OgdenJasper, Chase, Brunside-Flynn,
Kilmanagh and BillmanSpratt from 1941-81. He
attended the Kilmanagh UMC
and had been a youth director
at Bay Shore Camp. Besides
his wife he leaves four daughters: Judy (Fritz) Faber, Karen
Blakely, Nancy
(Glen)
Spencer, Joan (Craig) Douglas; one son, Jerry Blakely;
and many other relatives. The
funeral took place Nov. 23 at
Kilmanagh UMC. Memorials
may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Bay
Shore Camp, or a charity of
choice.

the Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon
following a lengthy illness. He was
born March 2, 1915 in Williaiii:

married Lucille Nicholson on Feb-ruary 2, 1941 in Wauseon, Ohi&.
He graduated from Kalamazoo
College in 1941 and was ordained
as a minister. He served his Lord
faithfully as a United Brethren and
then United Methodist pastor in
churches in Ogd en -J as p er,
Chase, Burnside-Flynn, Kilmanagh and Hillman-Spratt from 19411981 . He touched the lives of nr.

manner and wonderful sense of

The funeral service will take
place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 1998 at the Kilmana_gh
United Methodist Church. Rev.
Clarence Vanconant and Supefintendent of the Port Huron District,
Rev. Marvin McCallum will officiate
with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sebewaing. Friends may
call at the Dinkei-Juengel Funeral
Home (A Golden Rule Funeral
Home) in Sebewaing from 2:00. to
9:00 p.m. on Saturday, 9:00 a.m.
to 11 :30 a.m. on Sunday. He will
lie in state at the church from
12:30 p.m. Sunday until the time
of service at 2:00p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy
