HEY. W ILLIAM BROW NE. a native
of 1-'hi ladelphia, Pennsylvania , is the new
direct or of the Wesley F oundation at
Eastern l\Iichigan Univers ity, Yps ilant i.
The Foundation serves t he one thousand
Methodist s tudents in the Univers ity.
He succeeds Gerald Cr oss who has been
transferred to the Milwaukee Branch of
the University of Wi scons in. Mr.
Brow ne graduated from the public
THE REV. WILLIAM T . BROWNcE, 60,
retired member oRne betro1t Conference,
died Dec. 30, 1989, in Lansing. Born Feb.
7, 1929, in Philadelphia, Penn., he had
served as chaplain at Eastern Michigan
Uniyers ity_.. liJuya~_a_U.S......,.ArmY. v~teran
and a former Republican chairman of
Washtenaw County. After retirement, he
moved to Homestead, Fla. , where he ran
a small business and volunteered his services to prison ministries. Surviving are
one daughter, Patricia A. Browne, one
son, Andrew P. (Janet Kay) Browne, both
of Lansi ng, three grandchildren , Allison
Kelia, Justin Conlin and Jordan Donald;
also one sister, Miriam Emery of Feasterville, Penn . Funeral services were held
Jan . 2 at the Central UMC, Lansing , with
the Rev . Sidney A. Short, senior minister,
officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of one's choice in

in Statesbor o, Geor gia. His wife, Alice,
is from Tuskeegee, Alabama, and they
have two ch ildren Patricia, 7 ; and Andrew, 3. The Brownes are living in the
parsonage at 212 Was htenaw, Ypsilanti.
