minister,
social
activist and former attorney died Tuesday afternoon of
natural causes, near his Inkster home.
Dr. Boman was born in Tennessee, but he grew up in
Harper Woods Michigan.
He graduated from Wayne State
University in 1960, and received his law degree from the
Detroit College of Law in 1963. He remained an attorney for
most of his life while serving the churches he attended: He
was a lay person at Imanual United Methodist Church of
Harper Woods.

teacher and scoutmaster at Christ United Methodist Church of

where he preached for the last 4 years.
While residing in Harper Woods, Dr. Boman served as
president of the Harper Woods Kiwanis Club in 1967, and
spent two years on the Harper Woods
civil service
commission. He also ran for Judge in Harper Woods twice.
Aside from these endeavors, Dr. Boman dedicated his
life to public service and social justice. He was a member
of the NAACP, and he joined Dr . Martin Luther King in his
1963 march down Woodward. Dr. Boman served as a trustee for
the Fourteenth District Democratic Party, as well as being a
delegate to more than one Democratic Party Convention. Also
he was appointe d to the position of Spec ial Assistant
Attorney General in 1974, and was a member of the American
Arbitration Association and the Wayne Co. Port Commission.
Survivors include his son Scott, his brothers Jerry and
Larry, his nephews Jerry, Jason and Christopher, as well as
his niece Lisa.
The Funeral will be from 1pm. to 9pm . Friday July
Sixteenth at Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd.,
Garden City.
A memorial service will be held at Christ
United Methodist Church of Inkster, 27830 Avondale Ave. in
Inkster .
