Rev. Roland Brooks, 79, of Cardinal
Lane, Wilrnore,diedSundayathishome
after an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 23, 1913 in Jessamine County. He was the son of the late
F1oyd andNancy Elizabeth Dean Brooks.
He is swvi ved by his wife of 51 years
of marriage, Alice Marie Blakeman
Brooks; a son, Rev. Phillip Douglas

Blevins and husband Daryl, Dayton; a
brother, Gilbert Brooks and sister, Elizabeth Teater, both of Jessamine County;
five grandchildren, Leila Blevins, Lynsey
Blevins and Meridith Blevins, all ofDayton, Phillip Roland Brooks and Alison
Marie Brooks, both of Cincirmati.
He was a graduate of Nicholasville
High School, Asbury College (A.B.
1941), and Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1943). During childhood
and youth he was an active member of
Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in
Jessamine County.
· He pastored United Methodist
churches from 1941 until retirement in
1978. 1be churches include: Gwm's
Olape1,1941;Gunn'sChapelandPoosey
in Garrard County, 1942; Whittemore,
Hale and Twner in Michigan, 1943; St.
Claire Shores, Michigan, 1951;
Greenfield, Detroit, 1966; Bethlehem,
Flint, Michigan, 1969. Heretired to Wilmore in 1978.
Following retirement, Brooks was
_guest preacher in many churches in various denominations. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and bee keeping.
Services were Tuesday at the Wilmore United Methodist Church-Clark
Chapel with Rev. Charles Bertrand, Dr.
Don Morris, and Rev. U.J. Herron officiating. Burial was inMapleGroveCemetery,_,Nicholasville.
