l\[ ichigan wh en a ch ild and rccci,·cd hi s
early education in Cla ybanks, ami his later
ed ucation at Franklin College and Albion
College. H e was united in marriage to
i\liss Grace Loder o f Albion, Jun e 8, 1895.
To them were i>orn two children, one
<laughte r and one son.
In 1910, he ent ered the mini stry a nd
:-cn·cd eight charges: Girard, Berrien
.S prings, S heridan, North S tar, Wheele r,
l ~iv c r da l c, Coral, and ~[o rl ey, whe re he
was pastor at th e time o f his death. H e
loved his people whe rever he preached
and was a lways happy in his work for
th e ]\faster. H e was a lways eagerly
,,·orking to win others to Ch rist or try·i ng to comfort and cheer those in times
of sickness or troui>lc. H e had i>cen failing in healt h since last February: although he had been bravely fighting to
r egain hi s healt h, he g radually failed
until he went home to his reward.
