Our new Pastor if 'ihe Reverend Doctor Richard C. Cheatham . He was born i n southeast Detroit,
l ived in Grosse Poi nte, and was educated in a Military Schoo l in M i ssouri . He was a Captain
in the Army during the Korean War and was in the boating business when he decided to go into the
ministry. In 1961 he attended Adrian Coll ege to prepare for th e Christi an Min istry, was graduated from Adri an Coll ege in 1963 andattendedGarrett Seminary . Whil e at Garrett he was a Wen s
Scholar and was one of three national preaching f ellows. He received hi s Doct orate in Sacred Theology in 1972 in Hi storical Theo logy and Preaching. He has been serving as Pastor of Glac ier Way
United M ethodist Church in Ann Arbor s ince 1969.
Mrs. Cheatham' s name is Diane. She t eachesSocia iStudi es and Hi st ory on the Secondary l evel .
Thei r three daughters are Diane, 19, a student at the Uni versi ty of Mi chi gan; Cindy , 16, a senior
in high school; and Crystal, 7 1/2, in the second grade.
Mr. Cheatham played f ootball through Junior HighSchool , and hi s current hobbies are swimming
and playing the c larinet.
On May 1st Mr. Cheatham will assume the duties of Senior Pastor of Saint James United Metho di st Church and will preach hi s first sermon on Sunday, May 5th , at which time the congregation
wi ll have an opportunity t o we lcome him and his love ly f amily at a r ecepti on in their honor, in
F ellowsh ip Hall , foll owing church service. Plan to attend church and partic ipate in the festivities .

Rev. Richard Cheatham, Minister of Methodist Church, Napoleon,
l'1ichigan, 't'las admitted on trial in the Detroit Annual Conference,
of The Methodist Church, at the 123rd session of the

Annual Conference, meeting at Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
He was ordained aa Deacon in the Methodist Church by Bishop
Marshall R. Reed, at the closing session of the conference held
in First Methodist Church, Adrian on Sunday afternoon, June 21st.
Rev. Cheatham, graduated from Wentworth Military Academy, in
Missouri in 1947, from Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, with a
B. A. degree in 1963, and is now attending Garrett Seminary in
Evanston, Illinois, and has received a Wells Scholarship.
Mrs. Cheatham, is the former Diane L. Schleicher, daughter
of Mr. George Schleicher of 647 Washington, Grosse Pointe, Mich.
Rev. & Mrs. Cheatham are the parents of two children,, Deborah, 10,
Cynthia, 7.
Rev. Cheatham, received an appointment from Bishop Reed,e
t o serve a church in the Detroit Conference.

Napolean, Michigan was elected to Full Membership in the Detroit
Annual Conference at the 125th Annual session of the conference
held on the Campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, June 15-18,
and was ordained an Elder on the Methodist Church By Bishop Dwight E.

Loder at the closing s ession of the Conference Saturday afternoon.
Rev. Cheatham was graduated from Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Missouri in 1947, received a B.A. degree from Adrian College
in 1963.

As a member of this years graduating class at Garrett

Thological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois, he received a B. D. degree
with honors and is currently at work for a Doctorate in Sacred Theology.
Mrs. Cheatham is the former Diana Schleicher of Grosse Points,
Michigan.

Rev and Mrs. Chatham are the parents of two children

Deborah 12, and Cynt hia 8.
Rev. Cheatham will continue to serve the Napoleon Methodist Church
as announced by Bishop Loder at the r eading of the appointments.

WILLIAM E. ROUSSEAU of Fort Riley,
Kansas. Captain Rousseau is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rousseau of Timonian , Maryland . Both families are formerly of Ann Arbor. The couple are graduates
of Huron High School. Miss Cheatham is
a graduate of the University of Michigan.
Captain Rousseau graduated from Trinity College in San Antonio , Texas. He is
presently a Company Commander in the
2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, First Infantry

Center in Saginaw, on July 13. Attending
the bride were her sisters, Mrs. Deborah

Kriwanek of Ft. Levenworth, Ks., Mrs. Carrie Withey of Phoenix, Az. and Mrs. Verjean Hughes of Milan , Mi. The

CRYSTAL LYNNE CHEATHAM. and
PHILIP MARK MYERS were united in
marriage at the Franklin Community
Church on Jan. 27. Crystal is the daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Cheatham of
Franklin. Philip is the son of Mr. andMrs.
Delbert Myers of North Branch. The couple both attended Michigan State University. ~hilip is a senior engineer with
: echmca, Inc., of Columbus , Ohio. Crystal
IS a customer service representative for
State Savings and Loan Company. The
couple is residing in Westerville, Ohio.
Crystal and Philip met as leaders of CCYM
ten years ago. Phil was Detroit Council on
