The Board of Ordained Ministry
Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist ChLrch
.., March 30, 1994
DearTom, _
wV'_e_.
.
i fA.t the 1994 session ofthe Detroit Annual Conference, a child ofyour church family,
LYNN · . CHURCH will be ordained a deacon in the Church. This is a high moment for family,
individual, and the extended family of faith.
'
The Board of Ordained Ministry would like your church to be represented in the service of
ordination with the gift of a Bible to the ordinand. The Bible is a symbol of the ordination of the
deacon to word, order, and service. We hope your church family will take pride in giving this gift
as a symbol of your role in this person's calling to ministry.
Please contact the ordinand regarding personal taste and preference in a bible. Please
present the Bible to the person prior to Annual Conference in order that it will be with the
ordinand at the time of the service.
You and the members of your congregation are invited to attend the service of ordination.
It will take place in Dawson Aud1torium, at Adrian College, Wednesday, June 8th, 7:30p.m.
Thank you for your part in preparing persons for ordained ministry. Thank you also for
participating in the ordination of this special individual with the gift of a Bible .
.- .
May God continue to bless your ministry.
Your in Christ,
(hfJeffry W. Dinner
