Rev. Keith B. Colby was elected to Associate Membership in
the Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church
at the Executive session of the l 27th Mee ting of the Detroit
Annual Conference of the United Met h odi st Church being held
this week on the Campur of Adrian Colle ge , Adrian , Mi chi gan .
Associa te Membership is a new rela tionship established
by the Uniting Conference of the United Met hodis t Church a nd
grants additional privileges , including the right to vote
upon a ll matte r s coming before the Annual Conference with
the exception of the Exe cutive Session, to those persons
who have met certain requirements of service and educa t ion.
Rev. Keith B. Colby, son of Mr. & Mrs. Dudl e y Colby,
Pontia c, Vd chigan was graduated from Pontiac Hi gh School ,
Ponti a c, Michi gan i n 1941, a nd from Asbury Coll ege , Wilmore ,
Kentucky with a BA De gree in 1950 a nd did some post graduate
work a t George Peabody College for Teachers , Nashville, Tenn.,
a n MA=Educa tion Administra tion in 1951.
Rev. Colby was recommended for Licens e to Prea ch by
the Qua rterly Conference of Firs t Methodist Church, Pontia c,
Michigan in 1948.
Rev . Colby is a membe r of Boa rd of Ma nagement - South
Oakland D1CA a nd Chairman, Progr am Committee.
Mr s . Colby is t he former Miss Betty Grace De c ke r,
daughter of Mr . & ~-rr s. James De cke r, Cincinna ti, Ohio.
a re the parents of James Dudley 16, Daniel 14 a nd Thomas
Bradford 9.
Rev. Colby is a vetera n of World Wa r III,
PH . ~1L/c.
His hobbies include Numismatics a nd needlepoint.
Rev. Colby
served in t he following churche s before
coming to Royal Oak, Fernda le First-Assoc. 16 months,
Elmwood - Galloway (now St. Luke'sl- 2~ years, Elmwood

additional ye a rs a nd has been in Royal Oak 9 years.
Rev. Colby has been r eassi gned to First Methodist
Church, Royal Oa k , Michigan as an Associate.
