FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Reverend Roger Lee Colby was elected to Elder's Orders, andreceived as a Full Member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church, on Wednesday afternoon, June 2nd, as the 135th
consecutive annual session of the Conference began in Dawson Auditor ium on the campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Wednesday evening, he was ordained an Elder in the United
Methodist Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder, Resident Bishop of t he
Michigan Area of the United Methodist Church.
Son of Mrs. Amerst Colby of Midland, Michigan, The Reverend
Colby was graduated from Mi dland High School in Midland, Michigan.
He received a B.A. degree from Central Michigan University at Mt.
Pleasant, Michigan, and a M.Div. degree from Wesley Theological
Seminary in Washington D.C. in 1973 .
Recommended for a License to Preach by the Charge Conference of
First United Methodist Church of Midland, Michigan in 1969, The Reverend Colby was elected to Deacon ' s Orders by the Detroit Annual
Conference in 1969, and was r eceived as a Probationary Member in the
Detroit Conference in 1969 .
Elder ' s Orders and Reception into Full
Memb ership in an Annual Conference are the final steps into the Ministry
of the Unite d Methodist Church .

Mrs. Colby is the former Dorothy Quigley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Quigley of Detroit, Michigan.
The Reverend and Mrs . Colby are the parents of 2 children: Brian, 4 ,
and Ruth Ann, 2.
The Reverend Colby has been assigned to Genesee - Thetford Center in
Genesee, Michigan as Minister by Bishop Loder for the coming y e a r.
