FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:

June 11, 1983

The Rev. David C. Collins was elected to Deacon's Orders, and
received as a Probationary member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 7, as the 142nd consecutive
annual session began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of Adrain College,
Adrian, Michigan.
On Saturday, June 11, he was ordained a Deacon in the United Methodist
Church by Bishop Edsel A. Ammons, Resident Bishop of The Michigan Area of
The United Methodist Church.
Son of Chester and Dorothy Collins of Columbiaville, Michigan, the
Rev. Collins was graduated from Lake Ville High School in Otisville, 1967.
He received a B.A. from Michigan State University and is enrolled at
Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Rev. Collins and his wife Roberta, daughter of Micki Smith of Flint,
have one daughter, Janice O'Hara, 13.
