FOR IMMEEIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:
The Reverend Richard L. Dake was elected to Elder's Orders, and
received as a Full Memeer of the Detroit Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 1, as the 14lst consecutive
annual session of the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium on the
campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Saturday, June 5, he was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist
Church by Bishop Edsel A. Ammons, Resident Bishop of the Michigan
Area of the United Methodist Church.
Son of Mr. and Mrs . Ralph Dake of Montrose, the Reverend Dake was
graduated from Hill-McClay High School in Montrose in 1973, he received
a B.A. degree from Adrian College at Adrian, Michigan, and a Master of
Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina.
Elder's Orders and Reception into Full Membership in an Annual Conference afe the final steps into the Ministry of the United Methodist
Church.
Mrs . Dake is the former Miss Laura Sessoms, daughter of Mr . and Mrs.
J. A. Sessoms of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Emily, 7 months
old .
The Reverend Dake has been reassigned to Springville United Methodist
Church in Onsted as Minister by Bishop Ammons for the coming year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:
The Reverend Richard Lee Dake was elected to Deacon•s Orders, and
received as a Probationary member of The Detroit Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon, June 6, as the l'38th Annual
Session began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of Adrian College, Adrian,
Michigan.
On Friday evening, June 8, he was ordained a Deacon in the United
Methodist Church by Bishop Leroy C. Hodapp, Resident Bishop of the Illinpis
Area , presiding for Bishop Edsel A. Ammons.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dake of Montrose, MI, The Reverend Dake was
graduated from Hill McCloy High School in Montrose, MI in 1973.
He received a B.A. in History and Religion degree from Adrian College
in Adrian, MI in 1977; and i s presently enrolled as a student at Duke Divinity
School in Durham, North Carolina.
Recommended for the Candidacy Program for the Ministry by the Charge
Conference of the Montrose United Methodist Church, Montrose , MI in 1973, the
Reverend Dake i s pursuing the course of study required for Full Membership in
the Detroit Annual Conference.

Mrs. Dake is the former Miss Laura Lee Sessoms, daughter of

The Reverend Dake has served an internship at St. Matthews United
Methodist Church in Durham, North Carolina and Cedar Grove United Methodist
Church, Cedar Grove, North Carolina.
Reverend Dake spent a semester of schooling in India while attending
Adrian College .
