I
was born in West Branch, Mich iga n, o n July 5th 1935 to
William and Lula Mae Daws. I graduated fro m the West
Branch Pu blic School in June of 1953 and en tered rh e U S
A rmy in A ugust 1953. I met ZoeA nn just befo re I shipped o ut
fo r Ko rea and we co rrespomled by mail until I was discharged
fro m th e service. O n A ugust 25th, 1956 we we re married in
the Mount Hope Method ist Church by Dr. Jo hn Jury. We have
two daugh ters, Lanet te and Suza nne, the ir spouses, and three
grandchild ren.
In 196 5 we were appointed full-time to the G len nie-Curran
Churches and I enrolled in off campus classes at C entral M ichigan U n iversity.
Six years later I rece ived a BA degree and we moved to O hio to attend se minary.
While in seminary we served th e Byha lia U MC in Byh alia , O hio . A fter receiving an M. Di v. degree from Methesco we returned to the Detro it C o nference.
Our pastorates in the Detroit C onference included G lenn ie-Curra n-Oscoda
Indian Mission, LaSalle Zio n , Imlay C ity-East and West Good land C hurch es,
Cass City Salem, and C oleman Fa ith UMC.
It was a special joy to se rve on the Huro n D istrict Board of Missio ns and th e
S aginaw-Bay District Board of Miss ions. W hile serv ing on the very fi rst De troit
C o nferen ce V IM C o mmittee I was privil eged to lead o ne of the in itia l DCVIM
wo rk teams to Broken Bow, O klah01n a wh ere we wo rked with a N at ive
A merican co ngregat io n to construct the G oodland Un ited Method ist C hurch.
In 1986 I lead ano ther team to Juneau, A laska to construct an all pu rpose
build ing at the Conference camp, as well as severa l work teams to Bay Sho re
Camp.
I h ave also enj oyed h elping in the co nstructio n of the C urran C hurch,
Glennie Parsonage, Imlay City Fellowship Hall and Coleman Fe llowship H all
as I served as the pastor of each co ngregatio n .
ZoeAnn and I are looking fo rward to h av ing more time with o ur fa mily and
spending the winter mo nths traveling and wo rking with the N O M ADS.
Summers will be spent in our cabin o n To mso n Lake, G lennie , M ichigan.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Reverend Donald J. Daws was elected to Elder's Orders and received
as a Full Member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon, June 2nd , as the 135th
consecutive annual session of the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium
on the campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Wednesday evening, he was ordained an Elder in the United
Methodist Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder, Resident Bishop of the
Michigan Area of the United Methodist Church.

Son of Mr. and Mrs . William J. Daws of West Branch , Michigan,
- · - The Reverend Daws was graduated from West Branch High School in
West Branch.
He received an A.B. degree from Central Michigan
University at Mt . Pleasant, Michigan, and aM. Div. degree from
Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio in 1975 .
Recommended for a License to Preach by the Charge Conference of
Whittemore United Methodist Church of Hale, Michigan in 1965, the
Reverend Daws was elected to Deacon's Orders by the Detroit Annual
Conference in 1972 and was received as a Probationary Member in the
Detroit Conference in 1972 .
Elder's Orders and Reception into Full
Membership in an Annual Conference are the final steps into the
Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Daws is the former Zoe Ann Michelli, daughter of Mr . and
Mrs. Louis Michelli, of Bessemer, Michigan.
The Reverend and Mrs. Daws are the parents of 2 children:
Lanette, 19, and Suzanne, 13.
The Reverend Daws has been assigned to LaSalle United Methodist
Church by Bishop Loder for the coming year.

Rev . Donald J. Daws, was rece1ved as a Probationary Member in the
Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on Wednesday,
morning, June 7, as the l3lst consecutive session of the conference

SU ZANN E RU TH DAWS and WILLIAM
PAUL WHITE were united in marriage
June 4. The ceremony took place at the
First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor , with the
Rev . Robert Wallace officiating. Suzanne
is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs.
Donald J. Daws . William is the son of Dr.
and Mrs. Burne White, Ypsilanti. The couple received their Doctor of Medicine
degrees from Wayne State University,
School of Medicine, June 7, 1988.
Suzanne will begin a residency in
emergency medicine at Receiving
Hospital, Medical Center, Detroit. William
will begin a residency in family practice at
Providence Hospital in Southfield .7t'l,1.:rJ'
SUZANN E RUTH DAWS graduated
summa cum laude from Ad rian College on
April 29 . During her four years at Adrian
College Suzanne was very active in the
Beta Beta Beta biological honor society,
holding the office of president in her senior
year. At the honors banquet this spring
she was awarded the Miles Peelle Senior
Award in Biology. She is also one of 23
Adrian students chosen to be included in
"Who's Who Among Students in
American Universities and Colleges."
Suzanne has been accepted at Wayne
State Medical School where she will begin
studies in the fall. Her parents are Rev.
and Mrs. Donald J. Daws of Imlay City.
