The retirement of Rev. J. Marion DeVinney, _presentl y the

pastor of the Boulevar d Temple United Methodist Church, Detroit,
Michigan, was announced at the Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church meet ing this week at Adrian College, Adrian,
Michigan.
Mr. DeVinney was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He
graduated from Big hapids High School, Big Rapids, Michigan; from
Albion College, Albion Michigan with a E. B. degree in 1924; from
Garrett Theological Seminary with the B. D. degree; and from Northwestern
University with the M. A. degree in 1928 .
Rev. DeVi nney was recommended for License to Preach by the
Quarterly Conference meeting in Holl and, Michigan, i n 1925; was
admitted to the Michigan Annual Conference as a Probationary Membe r
in 1925 ; and elected to Full Membership of t he same Conference in
1927.
In 1963, he transferred into the Detroit Annual Conference
of the Methodist Church.

He is a 3 2nd degree Mason, and a past
presmdent of the Rotary Club of Lowell, Michigan.
Mr. DeVinney is married to the former Zora E. Hilderley,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 0. D. Hilderley.
Mr. DeVinney's parents
were the Rev. and Mrs. J. Clyde DeVinney.
The DeVinneys are the parents of Mrs. David Crawford, and two
sons, Robert H. DeVinney, and Ricahrd DeVinney.
