Rev. Clifford M. DeVore was elected to Associate Ivlembership
ill tfie Detroit Annu&l Conference of the United Methodist Church
at the Executive session of the 127th Meeting of the Detroit
Annual Conference of the Unite d Methodist Church being held this
week on the Campus of Adrian College , Adrian, Michigan .
Associa t e Membership is a new relationship established
by the Uniting Conference of the United Methodi s t Church and
grants additional privileges , including the ri ght to vote upon
a ll matters coming before the Annual Conference with the
exception of the Exe cutive Session, to t hose persons who
have met certain r equirements of service and education.
Rev . DeVore was gradua t ed from Yd lo Hi gh School, Milo,
Iowa and from Si mpson-Drake -Iowa Sta te
~ws.
University.
DeVore i s the f ormer Mi ss Lena Butler.
They a re the
pa rents of Dora El aine, Donna , Judy, Rodney, Roder and Gary.
Rev. DeVore is active on the City Planning Corami ssion and
a lso is Secret a ry of Rotary Interna tional.
Rev. DeVore has been Assigned to the Owendale-Gage town
Cha r ge , in the Port Huron Di s trict by Bi s hop Dwight E. Loder.

Clifford Marlys DeVore, was reti r ed at the Jrme
4-7 sessions of the Detroit
Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church , held at Adrian College,
Adrian , Michigan .
After serving as an Associate Member of the Conference since 1969 .
Reverend
DeVore was a l ate arrival in the ministry , having left the work of Automotive
Engineering.
Previously to his entering the ministry of the Church , Mr. DeVore
was employed by Swi ft and Company of Chicago as an Industri al and Automotive
Engineer .
He also worked for Tri-State Truck Body Company as General Manager .
Reverend DeVore attended Simpson College , Drake Univer sity , Iowa State College,
and the University of Chicago, earning degrees in Engineering .
In 1930, he married Lena A. Butler of Lacona, Iowa .
To this rmion were born
three daughters and three sons: Dora Elaine, Donna E . and Judy Mae , Rodney ,
Rodger, and Gary .
During Mr . DeVore ' s years of servic e as a minister , he served on the Conference
Town and Country Commission.
While pastor in Sandusky , he served on the
City Pl anning Commission.
Since becoming an associate member of the Annual Conference Reverend DeVore
s e rved churches at Prescott , Gladstone, Owendale, and Sandusky.
While at
Gladstone and Smdusky the services of the church were broadcast over local
radio stations.

After retirement, Reverend DeVore i·T ill be living at Hal e , Michigan, ivhere
he plans to continue serving the church as an Evangelist and as a supply
pastor .
He will also continue his oil paint i ng and HOOdHorking .

DeVores of Millington
Observe 50th Anniversarv

On Sunday, June 15, 1980, Rev. and Mrs.
Clifford DeVore were honored on the
observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. Over 80 members of their families
attended the morning worship service with
them at the Millingto n United Methodist
Church.
Family members came from California,
Washington, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois a nd
Indiana to be with them. Following the
worship service, a family dinner was served
at the church, and then an open-house was
enjoyed in the a fternoon.
Rev. and Mrs. DeVore have served the
churches at Prescott, Gladstone, OwendaleGagetown and Sandusky, since entering the
ministry in June 1957. Retired from the
Sandusky UMC, he is now serving the Wilber
UMC for six months of the year and is
Chaplain of Hawaiian Isles, Inc. in Ruskin,
Florida, where they make their home from
November until May.
The affair was hosted by the children,
Norman a nd Dora Elaine Burns, Vernon and
Donna Weber from Millington, Glenn and
Judy Loy, from O'Neill, Neb., Rodger and
Veronica DeVore, from San Francisco,
Calif. , Rodney a nd Sha ron DeVore, from
Kalamazoo, a nd Gary DeVore of Adrian,
along with 28 of the grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren .
REV. CLIFFORD M. DEVORE of
Ruskin , Florida, age 77, died February 28,
in Brandon , Florida. Rev. DeVore was
born June 13, 1908 in Milo, Iowa. He married Lena Butler May 30, 1930 in Indianola, Iowa. He became a minister of the
Methodist Church in 1957. He had been
a resident of Millington from 1948-1957,
retiring to Hale, Ml and Ru skin, Florida in
1975. Surviving are: his wife, Lena, three
daughters, Dora Elaine Burns, Donna
Webber both of Millington ; Judy Loy of
Whitewright, Texas; three sons, Roger of
Tru ckee, CA, Rodney of Whitewright,
Texas, and Gary of Adrian . 32 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a sister,
nieces and nephews. Memorial services
were held May 30 at the Millington UMC .
In lieu of flowers donations have been
made to the Millington UMC Music Fund,
and Puppet Ministries Fund of St. Paul 's
Lutheran Church of Millingtona,t u /&.
REV. CLIFFORD M. DEVORE, 77, a
retired United Methodist pastor of the
Detroit Conference, died February 28, at
Humana Hospital in Brandon . He served
congregations in Prescott, Maple Ridge,
Alge r, Turner, Owendale, Gladstone ,
Gagetown and Sandusky. DeVore served
the UMC in Sand usky from 1971-75 during which time a major renovation work
was completed to the c hurch sanctuary.
After his retirement in 1975, he served as
officiating pastor at Wi lber UMC, Tawas,
and at Hawaiian Isles, Ruskin, FL. and
Myakka church Sarasota, FL. Survivors include his wife, Lena; three daughters ,
Mrs. Dora Elaine Burns, Mrs. Donna
Weber, both of Millington , Ml, and Mrs.
Judy Loy of Whitewright, Texas; three
sons, Rodney DeVore of Whitewright,
Texas, Roger DeVore of Truckee, Calif.,
and Gary DeVore of Adrian, Ml; a sister,
Mrs. Elmer Morlock of Prescott, Ariz.; 32

Funeral services were held March 3 at
Northside Baptist Church, Ruskin, Florida,
with his son-in-law, Rev. Glenn Loy offic iating. Memorials may be made to the
music program at the UMC in Millington,
or to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church " puppet ministry" at Millington. Memorial services will be held later in the spring at the
Millington UMC.
