William A. Dewey and Mary Gray Dewey, both of
whom were children of pioneer settlers in Oakland
County.

Early educa tion
in publ ic schools of Pontia c , gradua ting
from the Pontiac High School in 1906.
Two years at the University of Michigan Depa rtment of
Engineering (Architecture)
Fa ther's illness and the unsettled economic situa tion
of 1907 made it necessa ry to leave school; ; postion
in engineering department of Oa kland Motor Co., until
1909

Having felt the call to the ministry, sought opportunity to preach, and wa s appointed by J. G. Haller to
Metamora in Februa ry.
In September wa s received on
trial by the Detroit Conference a t Preston Church.

Married

September 30, 1909 to Jennie H. Cleary of Pontia c.
Both of us had been cha rter members of the Oakland
Avenue Church, (now Central Church)

Transferred to St. John's River Conference, and
appointed to DeLand.
