IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE
Rev. Richard Paul Doherty, minister of the Smithsburg-charge
in Smithsburg, Md., was ordained a deacon of the United Methodist
Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder during the 130th Detroit Annual
Conference.
The Conference was held on the Adrian College cam-
pus in Adrian, Mich. June 8-12.
Mr. Doherty graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in Mt.
Clemens, Mich. in 1957.
He received an A.B. degree from the
University of Michigan in 1970 and is currently attending Wesley
Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Doherty is the former Joan E. DAvies, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. E. Reginald Davies of Mr. Clemens.
Rev. Doherty is the
son of Mrs. John Doherty of Kalkaska, Mich.
The couple has
three children, Susan, Michael, and Richard.
