Park Methodist Church, will be received into

Membership
in the Detroit Annual Conference of The Methodist Church at
Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, on Saturday, June 16, and
ordained an Elder in The Me thodist Church on Sunday afternoon,
June 17, by Bishop Marshall H. Heed.
Rev. Donigan received the A.B. degree from Albion College
in 1949 and the B.D. degree from the Oberlin Graduate School
of Theology in 1962.
He has served as pastor of Kearsley Methodist Church in
~· lint,
the Lakeland Circuit, the Wi llis Me thod ist (;hurch, and
the Burbank, Ohio, Me thodi s t (.,hurch.
Mrs. Donigan is the former Frances
c.
Bartlett of 1-·lint.
They are the parents of three children, Kathleen 7, Sandra
5,
and Rodney 3.
Rev. Donigan wi ll receive an appoint men t to serve in the
Det roit Conference from Bishop Heed.

THE REV. ARCHIE DONIGAN suffered
a serious heart attack late afternoon Feb.
12 while driving and as a result was involved in a minor auto accident. No one was
injured in the accident. The Rev. Donigan
has remained unconscious since the accident. He is at Bi-County Community
Osteopathic Hospital, Room 303, Bed 2,
13355 Ten Mile Rd, Warren, Ml 48089.

The P~aul Donelson, M CA correspondent, is
pastor of Richfield and Otter Lake UMCs in the Detroit
Conference. Part of a clergy couple, Paul's wife Linda is
pastor of the Linden and Argentine UMCs . They were appointed last June. Their two children are Heather, 12, and
Nathan, ten. Besides writing for the Advocate, Paul writes
music, hymns and poetry. He is " into the theology of worship. "
Receiving a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University, Paul
earned his M.Div. from Wesley Seminary in 1975. The
couple spent 14 years in Iowa, after which Linda found a chaplaincy training
program at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. They moved to the West Michigan
Conference two years ago . Paul now serves on the Flint District Worship
Committee.
Hobbies include playing the trumpet. He will be the song leader for the
School of Christian Missions at Adrian this summer. He served the same role
last year at the West Michigan Conference School. Paul is currently learning
new programs on the computer. " I'm a mixed bag," he concludes. Paul
estimates he puts 1000 miles a week on his car, traveling between home and
his two charges.

THE REV. ARCHIE H. DONIGAN , 63,
died Mar. 12 following a heart attack. " In
my father's house are many mansions; if
it were not so, I would have told you ." Archie was born in Millington on Aug . 22,
1924. After an honorable discharge from
the U.S. Air Force in 1945, he attended Albion College, where he received his B.A.
degree . While working as a chemist at
Buick in Flint, he served as a lay pastor
to Kersley UMC. In 1962 he received an

M.Div. from Oberlin School of Theology
(now a school of Vanderbilt University). He
married Frances Bartlett in Flin~ on June
19, 1953. After ordination Archie served
Grass Lake, Milford, East Detroit: Emmanuel, Detroit: Aldersgate and Clawson
UMCs. Survivors include his wife, children
Kathy, Sandy and Rod, and two grandchildren . A celebration of the life of Archie
Donigan was held at the Clawson UMC on
Mar. 15 w ith the Revs. Joy Arthur and
James Bristah officiating. Memorials will
be warmly received for the United
Methodist Union of Greater Detrbit by
Clawson UMC.

Clawson UMC remembers Archie Donigan
The Clawson United Methodist Church
has remembered the Rev. Archie Donigan,
pastor of the church from June 1985, until
the time of his death , Mar. 12, 1988, with
a memorial stained glass window. The window, titled "The Creation," is located at the
rear of the sanctuary over the narthex
where it is easily visible from the pulpit.
Mrs. Hazel Henwood , chairperson of the
memorial committee, remembers Archie's
comments several months before his untimely passing.
" We had completed the installation of
new stained glass in the windows on each
side of the sanctuary. Archie stood back
and raised his hands and said, 'I would like
to see one right there: pointing to the large
window above the narthex. 'It should
depict the Creation. I'll be able to see it
from the chancel. It will inspire me while
I'm preaching.' When he left us, we immediately knew what we wanted to do in
his memory."
The window was suggested and the
response was overwhelming. The window
was dedicated on what would have been
Archie's 64th birthday, Aug. 22, 1988. It
now serves as an inspiration to the entire
congregation as the sun's rays penetrate
its colors on Sunday mornings.
