We are desiTous of securing for the H istorical files of t he Michi~an Conference complete and detailed
information concerning all ministers who have served and are now serving in the Conference. The above outline
is intended to assist in securing such informat ion in more or less uniform outlines. We urge the addition on a ·
separa.te sheet, of such other important and interesting information as cannot be conveniently placed on this blank.
In the case of men now living, the information can, of course, be only up . to date. Photographs of living and
der<'ased ministers, clim·ies, letters and documents of historical intPrest are earnestly solicited. Your co-operation
in behalf of the Conference Historical work will be greatly appreciated . K indly return the blank t o the Conference Historian, W. H. Watson, I~a#.tmMeo, Michigan.

Rev. W. H. Watson,
191'5 Leslie Avenue,
Detro 1 t, Michigan • .
Dear Brother Watson:
I have been greatly interested in your letter and blank.
A tremendous load of work:l has made me very slow in replying,
which causes me r~gret. It was a pleasure to hear from you
and to reaall our fellowship; for my memries of the Michigan
Conference are all pleasant and happy ones. Lik&ly after
nearly Z8 years, I may need to remind y ou that my change of
denomination came about because I ha d an opportunity to go on
wdth my education in connection with the Presbyterian Church,
and not because' of any unhappiness in the f·ellow'Ship--. I have
made brief refer~nce to that fact in the blank.
I want to congratulate
success in the min~stry. I
a District Superintendent.
my hearty greetings. Where
licensed the same day and I
you on your seTV'iice and evtdent
note that Conrad Wilkie is also
When you see him, please g1 ve him
1 s He-nr·y VOe-lker'? He and I were
always thought a lot of" him.
Referring to the statistics under item 15, I ask your help.
You will oote that I have filled in "Conversions"· and "Members
received into the church" in pencil,, with a notation, "See
letter. n· Those figures lrilould have added to them the f1 gures
you can seoure from the Conference Journals of 1907 and 1 908,
for Carleton Ciroui~ whioh then included Carleton, Ash Center
and Exeter . Wi ll you be so kind as to do this for me? I ha~
the Journals, but they are packed away in an unheated roGliD in
the baok of our house and I am not sure of the exact place e1 ther·.
If i"t is not too muoh trouble, I should like to have you send me
your findings for those two years, my first in the minist ry.
The statistics surprise me a little. For instance, I would have
thought I had held more than 40~ funerals. The miles travelled
during my mimstry would run up a large total, but I have not ~ep t
account , and so will not guess at it . I thanked ~«XX God and
took courage when I noted the proportion of conversions to total
number of members reoei ved. I would have guessed that the ones
received by letter would ha-,e been tw1.ce as many.
I have no photograph sui table for sending at present; 'rut
have a out I could loan you if you desired it. Of course , yo u
would not be interested in that unless you were gping to prin t
your findings. Kindly use my full name. My father suggested
the use of 1 t to me years ago, and 1 t has become second nature.
May God richly bless you'.
Fraternally,
