The
Rev. Dan M. Dun~was elected to Deacon's Orders, and received

as a Probationary member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 7, as the 142nd consecutiv e annual
session began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of Adr ian College, Adrian ,
Michigan.
On Saturday, June 11, he was ordained a Deacon in the United Nethodist
Church by Bishop Edsel A. Ammons, Resident Bishop of The Michigan Area of
The United Methodist Church.
Son of Rev. Edward and Marsha Duncan of Adrian, formerly of Lake
Orion, the Rev . Duncan was graduated from Cranbrook High School in
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, 1975 .
He received a B. A. from Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, ~1ichigan, 1979;
and is enrolled at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston,
Illinois.
Rev. Duncan is married to Mary Hhittaker, daughter of Stanley and
Hazel Whittaker of North Muskegon, Michigan.

T HE RE V. DANI EL M . DUN CAN and
MARY WH ITTAKER DU NCAN are pleas-
ed to announce the adoption of their
children, JESSE AN DREW (nine months)
and AN IA ELIZABETH (si x months) from
Belem, Brazil. The entire process involved an eight-week stay in Belem for Mary,
with Dan helping for the first three weeks,
and Mary's mother, Mrs. Hazel Whittaker,
for the last three weeks . They arrived
home on Friday, June 3. The children will
be baptized at a joint worship service of
Vergennes and Snow UMC, where Dan
serves as pastor, on June 26 by Bishop
Judith Craig. ·
