Monroe joseph Frederick
AUTOBIOGRAPHY: I was born March 22,
1921 in Bicknell, Indiana to Virgil and Beatrich
Frederick. My schooling was interrupted do to
work necessities. I graduated from Auburn
Heights High School late because of a bout with
tuberculous. I attended Michigan State University and Garrett Evangelica l Seminary Summer
School for Lay Pastors. I became an associate in
June 1968. I married Rosaline Frances Cook
November 5, 1945 in Pontiac, Michigan. We
were blessed with three sons: Timothy David of
Dewitt, MI. Montie-Jim of Vacaville, CA and
Aaron Lee in the Air Corp, England.
On July 5, 1960 we moved into the parsonage
to serve Gaines and Argentine for seven years.
Then into Flint Oak park for a year as associate
'
pastor. Moving on to Henderson/Chapin where we served four years. The North
beckoned and we moved to Iron Mountain First and Quinnesec for four years. Moving the Quinnesec Church to a better site for ministry. An ailing Father necessitated
moving closer to Pontiac and an understanding Cabinet appointed us to
Reese/Watrousville where we have served for 12 wonderful years. As I write all of
this down it really doesn't look like all that much, but there are vol umes of lives and
events that took place during our stay.
Rosaline and I have enjoyed our ministry and cou nt it the only real success of our
lives. Being second career people we had achieved success twice before in other fields
of endeavor. We will reside at 4690 Hemmeter Court, Apt. #4, Saginaw, M l 48603.
Phone (517) 793-1347. We plan to travel some, and enjoy one another with good
health and love.
\
TESTIMONIAL: Monroe is one of those rare individuals who received his call to th e
ministry late in his life. I believe this has aided him well in his ministry due to his
maturity and understanding of the world in which we live and serve. I further feel
that it helped him to be more than just a clergyman, but a pastor to the congregations
he has served. As pastor he has been a leader, a shepherd of the flock, devoted to
th e work and those he was ca lled on to serve. He accepted each charge, not as a
challenge, but rather as a new area of service devoted to ou r Lord Jesus Christ by opening avenues of spiritual awareness in the lives of those he ministered to, helping them
to become true disciples of Chri st. Monroe is a friend, not just an acquaintance, to
those he knows and serves. He shows great affection and concern. He is always ready
to.put others before himself. He is also a great confidant. What you relay in confidence,
is held as a sacred trust.
Over the years I have come to know Monroe in a very specal way and have come
to think of him as a member of the fami ly. We have taken vacations together, and attended conferences and seminars, including several conducted by Dr. Norman Vincent
Peale. It was during those times I found Monroe to be a person with a great sense
of humor. He has the ability even during times of laughter and fun to bring spirituality
into the fellowship without losing the joy of fun. One such time was in a restaurant
