Rev. Carlos L. Adams. Upon Mr. Adams'
retirem en t in 1931, they returned to
Howell where th ey built a home. He
p r eceded her in death in 1941.

a nd was famed for her devotion a l progra ms a nd book reviews. In 1932 she
orga ni zed the Philathea Class for you n "'
women a nd wa s its teacher and mentor
for over 25 years . F or many years her
w inter res idence has been D eland, Florida , where she was also active in church
affa irs. Besides he r m embers hip in th e
Wa lnut !:::itr et Church sh e was a m ember of the Howell Women's Club an d
fo rm erly of the H owell D elphians. She
is s urvived by a stepson, Merrill Adams,
of Birmingham; a niece, Clarice W.
Melson of Geneva, Switzerland; a nd a
nep hew, H ub ert C. Winans of Rio de
J a ni ero, Brazil. Funeral s ervices were
held Aug ust 18 f r om the Schna ckenberg
Funeral Home with R ev. Allan Gray,
pa stor, officiating. Interment was in
Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian .
