FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:
Rev. Douglas K. Olsen, Minister of the waterman and Simpson
United Methodist Churches since 1972, was elected to Elder's
~
Orders and received as a Full Member of The Detroit Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church, on Wednesday afternoon,
June 5th, as the 133rd consecutive annual session of the Conference
began in Dawson Auditorium o n the Campus of Adrian College, Adrian,
Michigan.
On Wednesday evening , he was ordained an Elder in the United
Methodis t Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder , Reside nt Bishop of
The Michigan Area of The Unit ed Methodist Church .

He received a B. Bus. Adm. degree from Eastern Michigan
University at Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1969; and a M. Div. degree
from Methodist Theological School at Delaware, Ohio in 1972.
He is presently a member of the Western Detroit Y.M.c.A.
Board of Management and of the South West Detroit Health Organizing
Committee.
Rev. Olsen was elected to Deacon's Orders by the Detroit
Annual Conference in 1970 and was also received as a Probationary
Member in The Detroit Confe rence in 1970.
Elders Orders and
Reception into Full Membersh i p in an Annual Conference are the
final steps into the Ministry of The United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Olsen, is the former Miss Sandra Knight of Seekonk,
Mass., daughter of Mr . and Mrs. James Knight.
Before appointment t o hi s present position Rev. Olsen served
as Minister of the Gre ene Stre et United Methodist Church at Piqua,
Ohio .
Re v. Olsen has been rea ssigned to the Waterman and Simpson
United Methodist Churches for t h e coming year by Bishop Loder.
