Batten, a student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary,
Pittsburgh, Penn., was ordained a deacon in the Michigan Conference '
me.eting in the 130th annual session of the United Methodist Church
at Adrian, Mich. June 8-12.
Bishop Dwight E. Loder conferred
the office.
Rev. Batten is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Batten of Grosse
Pointe, Mich.
Following graduation from Grosse Pointe High
School, Mr. Batten attended Alma College in Alma, Mich. and
graduated magna cum laude in 1970.
He is married to Diana
Kay Sisson from Lancaster, Ohio.
The Rev. Batten begins his work as Intern Pastor at the
South Avenue United Methodist Church in Wilkensburg, Penn.
and plans to return to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to
complete his training.
