FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE , PLEASE :
The Rev. Tommy G. Burdette was elected tO' Deacon's Orders , And received as
a Probationary member of The Detroit Annual Conference of The United Methodist
Ch urch on Wednesday afternoon, June 4th , as the 134th consecutive annual session
began in Dawson Auditori um on the campus of Adri an College, Adrian , Michigan .
On Wednesday evening , he was ordained a Deacon in the United Methodist
Church by Bishop Dwight E. Loder, Resident Bishop of The Michigan Area of The
United Methodist Church .
Son of Mr. an d Mrs. Timothy G. Burdette was graduated from Grand Blanc
Community High School in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
He received a B .S . degree from University of Michigan-Flint in Flint
Michigan in 1974; and is presently enrolled as a student at Garrett-Evangelical
Seminary in Evanston , Illinois.
Recommended for a License to Preach by the Charge Conference of Court
Street United Methodist Church, Flint, Michigan.
The Rev . Burdett is pursuing
the course of study required for full membership in the Detroit Annual
Conference.

The Reverend Torn Burdette was elected to Elder' s Orders and received as a

Full Member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on
Wednesday afternoon, June 6, as the 138th Consecutive Annual Session of the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of Adrian College .
On Friday evening, Jt.me 8, he was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist
Church by Bishop Leroy C. Hodapp, Resident Bishop of the Illinois Area, presiding
for Bishoo Edsel A. Ammons .
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Burdette of Flint, Michigan, Rev. Burdette \vas graduated from Grand Blanc Community High School in Grand Blanc.
He received a B.G.S.
degree from the University of Michigan -Flint, and a Master of Divinity degree from
Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois in 1977.
Elder' s Orders and Reception into Full Membership in an Annual Conference are
the final steps into the Ministry of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs . Burdette, the former Miss Cheryl Weideman of Mt . Clemens , Michigan, 1s
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Weideman.
Rev. Burdette has been assigned to First United tv!ethodist Church in Ypsilanti
as an Associate Minister by Bishop Annnons for the corning year.
