New pastor leads Methodist congregatiQns
The Rev. Dav id Fleming
is the new pastor who leads
congregations at New Lothrop and Judd vi lle United
Methodist churches.
A 52-year-old St. Clair
Shores -native, he repl aces
the Rev. Ol afLidums , who
recently transferred to the
Bris to l-Dimond _United

Methodist Church in Flint.
·' Bei ng the voice of God
in th is generation" is one
of the most fulfilling aspects of serving in the ministry, said Fleming of New
Lothrop.
He has been a pastor about
ten years, most recently at
Heritage Methodist Church

in· Snover.
. He began as a Baptis t
minister at the First Baptist Church in Port Huron.
Afterward, he became the
pa·s tor of three churches:
the Gaines and Duffield
Methodi st Church es and
the First Congressional
C hurch of Memphis.
Fleming's next move was
to Snover.
The New Lothrop church
at 9479 Butte rnut contains
11 9 me mbers, which the
Juddville church, 3907 N.
Durand, houses 73 members, he said.
His wife, Lani Fleming,
is a High School English
teacher at Clintondale
Corpmunity Schools in
Clinton Township.
The reverend also was a

the ·di strict and in Warren
Wood s Publi c Schools
from 1976 to 1982.
He also worked as a techni cal write r for G ene ral
Motors' engineering department in them id-1980s.
