information concerning all ministers who have served and are now serving in the Conference. The above outline
is intended to assist in securing such information in more or less uniform outlines. We urge the addition, on a
separate sheet, of such .o ther important and interesting information as cannot be conveniently placed on this blank.
In the case of men now living, the information can, of course, be only up to date. Photographs of living and deceased ministers, dia ries, letters and documents of historical interest are earnestly solicited. Your co-operation
in behalf of the Conference Historical work will be greatly appreciated. Kindly return the blank to the Conference Historian.
I answered the call of God last October 22, after
nearly five years of questioning and uncertainty. I had
planned on a life of teaching and composing music, but He
had other ideas for me.
Last summer, I found myself a troubled young man, ,
confused over the eternal problem, What does God want for
me? My pastor, Rev. James A. Lange, challenged me to let
God speak, and to not fight whatever I heard. He procured
for me the Declaration of Purpose form, but I placed it in
the letterholder on my desk, and promised myself that I
would think about it later.
"Later" was to come on a beautiful fall day, early in
the morning on October 22, 1958, when I awoke, strangely, a
few minutes earlier than usual. The question came to my mind,
"What is the matter--just what is it that is troubling you?"
The answer came. "You know whatistroubling you. Either
you are going to say yes to me or you are going to say no.
Which will it be?" Without a moment's hesitation I got out
of bed and down on my knees and said, "Lo:Cd, I will do what
you want--help me in my need." And thence began a new lifea life of peace and joy and happiness such as I had never
known before since the days when I first purposed to follow
Him wherever _He wanted me.

seriousness your words concerning the great and grave
~esponsibilities in the Ministry of His word.
I will indeed appreciate your prayers.
I am enclosing the form "Minister•s Record--Michigan
Conference" which you sent. I have filled it out as best
I could, but considering my newness, naturally many of the
lines had to be left blank.
History, and especially "local" history, has always
of great interest to me, and I hope that sometime in the
future that I might have some part in assisting in the
recording of our church history .
