Rev. Bartlett C. Beavin, Associate Director of We sley Foundation at
the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, was elected to Elder'$Orders and
Full Membership in The Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist
Church at the Executive session of the Conference on Tuesday afternoon as
the Conference began its Annual meeting on the campus of Adrian College,

~ Adrian, Michigan. He will be ordained an Elder in the Church by Bishop
Dwi ght E. Loder at the Friday evening session of the Conference to be held
in Dawson Auditorium.
Rev. Beavin, son of Rev. and Mrs. T. Sidney Beavin of Menomonee Falls,
Wisconsin, was admitted on trial in the West Wi sconsin Conference of The
Methodist Church in 1965 and transferred to The Detroit Annual Conference
in 1966.

He was graduated from the Spooner, Wisconsin, High School;

received a B. S. degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in
1953, and aS. T. B. degree from The Boston University School of Theology
in 1966.
At Ann Arbor, he has been an active member of the Interfaith Council
for Peace.

In 1966 and again in 1968 he travelled in The Holy Land and

-the Near East to study the political and economic situation.

Mrs. Beavin is the fonner Miss Helen I. Shinn of Bismarck, North
Dakota.
By appointment of Bishop Loder, Rev. Beavin will continue his work
at Wesley Foundation.

Rev. Bartlett C. Beavin is the
United Methodist Campus Minister at
the Wesley Foundation at the University
of Michigan, a position he has served
since 1966. He is a native of Wisconsin
where he taught biology and science for
five years at Madison. He is a graduate
of the Boston University School of
Theology; and he and his wife, Helen,
are parents of two boys: Tom, 5; and
Jim, 2. Bart's father was a Methodist
minister and served the West Wisconsin
Conference for 50 years. In 1968 Bart
was one of 10 Americans who toured
the Middle East as part of a World Student Christian Federation Seminar on
Justice and Peace. He is a member of
the Detroit Conference Board of
Church and Society among other An ·
nual Conference responsibilities.
