A TRIBUTE TO REV. SHERMAN BEIRD
Sherman Beird will be remembered in many ways. To his wife, Barbara, he will
be remembered as a loving husband of 46 years. Whether home was in Michigan,
Louisiana, North Carolina, Kentucky, or Indiana, there was love. To his 3 children, he
will be remembered as a father who cared for them, and proudly followed their
accomplishments. To his 4 grandchildren, he will be remembered as one who had many
hopes and dreams for them, and gave him new meaning to life.
Sherman Beird will be remembered by all of the members of churches he has
served. In his 40 years, he has served parishes including Saginaw: Kochville, Kingston
and Deford, and the Imlay City circuit in our conference. Sherman had a contagious
personality who's wit and stories won many people to Jesus Christ. His photographic
memory made you feel like you were a friend instantly.
The life of Sherman Beird may have ended suddenly in that auto collision of
November 13, 2000. However, it can never take away the wonderful memories we have
of this servant of God. The word of God used by Matthew were those we close with
today: "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little, I will
set you over much; enter into the joy of your master."
