DR. EDWARD W. BLAKEi\I AN, who
s ervi ces were held in Trinity Methodist
Church there. On April 4 a memorial
service was h eld in Wesley Lounge of
Firs t Methodist Church, Ann Arbor,
with Rev. DeWitt C. Baldwin, Coordinator of Religious Affairs at the University of Michigan, conducting the service. It was appropriate that this service was held in the Wesley Lounge where
on s o many previous occasions through
hi s years at the University of Michigan,
Dr. Blakeman met, counseled and discussed with students some of their deepes t thoughts. In addition to directing
the Wesley Foundation at the University
of California in Berkley and at the Universtiy of Wisconsin, Dr. Blakeman
came to Michigan in 1931 and was Director of t he Wesley F oundation for three
years, and for 15 years was the Univers ity Co un ~ elor in Rel igious Education,
a : a member of the administrative staff
of the Un iver s ity. After his r etirement
in 1948, he was on the staff of the
Pacific School of Religion and a cons ultant in public higher education and religion for the State of California. Surviving are his wife, and a daughter, Mrs.
E. W. Pengally of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
